- Select the MEC-Staff Wi-Fi from the list
- When it asks for a password enter your school username and password
3.It will then ask you to trust the server certificate click the trust button
You are now connected to the schools WIFI
Android
- Select the MEC-Staff Wi-Fi from the list
- Select Authentication method as EAP: PEAP
- Phase-2 authentication will need to be set to none
- CA certificate needs to be set to do not verify
- When it asks for a password enter your school username and password
Windows 10 version 1909 and newer
(For versions older than 1909 check the instructions below this one.
However it is advised to update to avail of security updates)
- Select the MEC-Staff Wi-Fi from the list
- Click Connect
- When it asks for a password enter your school username and password
- When it asks "Continue connecting? ..." click Connect
- You should now be connected to the Schools WIFI
Windows 10 pre version 1909
- Select the MEC-Staff Wi-Fi from the list
- When it asks for a password enter your school username and password
- Now you need to change some settings (Not needed If your device is setup by the IT department)
- From the Windows Menu select “Settings” then choose “Network & Internet” as shown below:
- Next select “Network and Sharing Center”
6. Select the MEC-Staff connection
7. Select Wireless Properties
8. Select the security tab and make sure the settings are as follows
- Security type: WPA2-Enterprise and
- Encryption type: AES
- Choose a network authentication method: Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)
9. Select Settings
10. Ensure the box beside “Verify the server’s identity by validating the certificate” is not checked
11. Make sure the Select Authentication Method is set to Secure Password (EAP-MSCHAP V2) and click configure
12. Ensure the checkbox beside “Automatically use my Windows logon name and password” is unchecked as in the screen below. Click on the “OK” button. Click on the “OK” button on the “Protected EAP Properties” window.
13. Click on the “Advanced Settings” button near the bottom of the window.
14. Check the box beside “specify authentication mode” and select “User authentication” from the menu below.
Click “Save credentials” button
15. Enter your school username and password
Click “OK” on any dialog boxes which are still open. Close the “Manage Wireless Networks” window.
You should now be able to connect to the school WIFI
